The Furukawa Company Group has a diversified portfolio of business in the fields of construction and mining machinery (rock drills), UNIC machinery, metals, electronic materials, chemicals and so on, but many of you may not know exactly what we do. However, when you have a look around you, you will realize that more products and technologies of the Furukawa Company Group than you imagined are being utilized in everyday life, such as in industrial and urban infrastructures, electronic devices, and so on, serving to provide a more convenient, affluent life, and to make a safer society.
Tunnel construction
This machine is used to make blasting holes for the loading explosives into bedrock and is used for excavation work involved in the building of mountain tunnels. The product is actively used in tunnel construction for railways and roads throughout Japan. In recent years, it has been actively used in the construction of Japan's Linear Chuo Shinkansen Line and in the ongoing construction of the Hokkaido Shinkansen Line.
The product is used as a pump for pumping excavated earth and sand out of a tunnel with water within shield excavation work performed for underground tunnels. This product is actively used in shield tunnel construction in Japan and abroad. It has been used for the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, the Tsukuba Express, and at the Bosporus (Strait of Istanbul).
Belt conveyors are used to transport the large amounts of earth and sand that are generated at civil engineering sites, construction sites and other such sites. They contribute more to the reduction of carbon emissions and to regional environmental safety when compared with transportation by dump truck. They have recently been adopted for use in the construction of control areas and for tunnel construction.
Concrete
This is a machine used to drill blasting holes for the loading of explosives at open pits of quarries where crushed stone and limestone used as raw materials for the making of concrete, are excavated. Outside Japan, they are also used in leveling ground for roads and at construction sites.
This is an attachment product for hydraulic shovels that is used to break large rocks coming about after blasting taking place at open-pit mining sites, such as a quarries. The product is also used to crush rock and concrete, meaning that it contributes to the development of infrastructure in Japan and abroad.
The product is used at plants where crushed stone and limestone, which serve as raw materials used in the making of concrete, are crushed to desired sizes. The product is also actively used at plants in industries such as the steel, chemical and non-ferrous metal industries.
Civil engineering and construction sites
This truck-mounted crane is often seen on roads, at civil engineering, and at construction sites. Our red crane, UNIC, allows for hanging, loading, transport and work all with one unit. It has been awarded the Energy Conservation Grand Prize for its pursuit of efficiency, safety and peace of mind.
This is a self-propelled crane that is useful for use at narrow construction sites which trucks are unable to access, for use on rough terrain, and for indoor work. Mini-crawler cranes, stretch their legs to lift loads when performing work and can be moved even within narrow spaces by folding their legs. We are seeing ever-increasing usage of these products abroad overseas due to the ease of use they provide.
This is an attachment product for hydraulic excavators. It is used for the crushing of reinforcing bars, steel frames, concrete, and other material at building demolition sites. This product minimizes noise and vibration when crushing is taking place and enables work to be undertaken in a manner that is considerate of the surrounding environment.
Infrastructure
It is an indispensable pump for domestic sewage treatment facilities and can be found at sites located all over Japan. In addition to being durable when it comes to contaminated water, sewage pumps which meet strict specifications (such as having special structures which prevent clogging) are also used in the wastewater treatment facilities found actively used in the Toyosu Market.

Materials
Electricity is necessary when it comes to building a foundation for the enrichment of people's daily lives. Electrolytic copper, which is an indispensable base metal for the conducting of electricity, is processed in various ways depending on the application. It is used in key components for items such as electric wires, home electric appliances, telecommunications, and automobiles.
Gallium arsenide semiconductors are used for electronic devices which are necessary for communication undertaken using smartphones and personal computers. They are also used for LEDs and laser diodes which emit infrared and red light. High-purity metallic arsenic is a raw material used for gallium arsenide semiconductors. It's purity is as high as 99.999995%.
Coils are electronic components made by winding copper wire around core consisting of iron. They are used for electronic control systems, power supplies, and other such devices. Given that our technologies allow us to produce cores in house, they are used in many automobile parts, such as power steering and engine control units.
Sulfuric acid is used as an indispensable basic material in various industries, such as the chemical, electronic, steel, and food processing industries. We also have a lineup of sulfuric acid derivative products, including sulfuric acid bands used for the purification process of water supplies.
A cupric oxide in the form of black powder is used as a raw material for copper plating on printed circuit boards. It is incredibly soluble and suitable for use in refined copper plating.
